YSF call for applications 2024

Young Scientific Forum (YSF) is a four day conference for selected young scientists from all over Europe! After the successful selection to participate in the event, you are also invited to attend the main FEBS Congress (with the same poster)! This year we have attended YSF in Tours, France and it was just great. Imagine an event, when you can meet like-minded peers (Ph.D. students and postdocs) where you can discuss scientific topics, network in relaxed environment and learn more about your career development. In fact, YSF is a great opportunity to meet with other young scientists, learn new trends in STEM field and establish the connections that might boost… Read more

On 19th October 2023 at 7PM (CET), another FEBS Junior Section talk will take place as the ninth online talk of this year's session. It will be an academic talk entitled “Tumor heterogeneity and plasticity in metastatic relapse” and it will be delivered by Dr. Adrià Cañellas from the Center for Cancer Cell Therapy, Stanford University School of Medicineprof.

If you are interested in the topic and would like to join us for the online session, feel free to register via Zoom by clicking on the registration button above.

Talk abstract

In this seminar I will explain my PhD research in Dr. Eduard Batlle’s lab at IRB Barcelona. By studying tumor heterogeneity, we uncovered the elusive identity and features of residual tumor cells that regenerate metastatic disease after curative resection of colorectal cancers (CRCs). In addition, we found that neoadjuvant immunotherapy is sufficient to prevent metastatic relapse in CRC; yet, this curative effect is restricted to a narrow temporal window as a result of a rapidly evolving immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. In addition, I will try to integrate early career relevant aspects that I am learning along this process that may be also valuable for other young scientists.
